Lynn accelerates change and increases leadership
capacity in organizations, especially in context of challenges without
easy answers. She has over twenty years experience in leading people,
managing change projects, unleashing potential, developing leaders
and creating learning environments. With a background in banking
and finance, she quickly grasps the essence of a business and what
drives its success. Lynn's approach gives a practical focus in leadership
development that connects effective concepts and principles to real
work. Representative experiences include:
- Led a fundamental change project that redesigned
a core training program. Out of this change came a shorter, less
expensive program that produced more capable trainees, a training
team that improved their own leadership effectiveness, and the
seeds of change in other venues of the organization involved in
process improvement and learning. This project netted a 200% return
in the first year.
- Designed and facilitated a leadership development
program for the top tier executives of a financial services company
that accelerated change, valued the contributions of all people,
and set a new leadership direction for the company.
- Led a process redesign project for a core business
process in risk management. This project fundamentally changed
the way leaders in the organization viewed both the business and
how they viewed process improvement as a goal. As a result, this
project was the seed for changes that were ultimately syndicated
across a large global institution.
- Designed and facilitated a leadership development
program targeted at improving leadership capacity in the middle
of the organization. Taking a systems-view, this program revealed
to leaders in the middle that they had sources of power they were
not using. Ultimately, this program launched numerous grass roots
efforts towards change.
- Coached a group of individuals in fundamentally
shifting their style from leading with answers to leading with
tough questions. As a result, these individuals increased their
capacity to deal with complexity, the pain of change and the need
to bring people along. The majority of them assumed significant
leadership roles within the next 12-18 months.
- Led a design team that built an experiential communication
event as part of a new process roll-out. The event was syndicated
across thousands of people and increased the level of early buy-in
to the change.
- As part of a significant change driven by external
factors and a new strategy, designed and facilitated a leadership
development program for a mid-sized power company that tied leaders
to a results focus and linked goals from the top of the company
to the bottom.
- Integrated key change principles into the design
of an existing program that both enhances the ability of the business
to improve performance and increases the ability of the leaders
in the business to take on more difficult clients and projects.
Prior to forming Carnes & Associates, Inc., Lynn
held a variety of leadership roles at Bank of America and its predecessors,
and was the Chief Learning Officer for Results-Based Leadership.

facilitation for multiple areas throughout the bank.
Lynda has a strong understanding of how people learn,
which is one of the reasons people seek her out to do their training.
She also understands how to lead a group to create consensus and
buy-in. Lynda has had great success in financial content training,
leadership development workshops and teaching the fundamentals of
Six Sigma methodologies.
